This year for the Superb Owl, I’m making some bulgogi and chicken wings, so I thought I’d share with you my sweet and spicy chicken wing recipe!
The marinade combines:
2tbsp Sesame Oil
2tbsp Chili garlic sauce
2 Garlic cloves (finely grated)
Marinate 2 – 3 pounds of chicken wings for approximately 1 day in an air tight ziploc or in a bowl with saran wrap sealing the surface of the marinade. For best results, mix occasionally.
The healthier version are cooked in an oven at 400F for approximately 40 minutes (make sure they’re cooked through before eating). I, however, recommend the following:
Heat canola or vegetable oil in a deep pan / skillet. Remove the chicken wings from the marinade, setting the marinade aside and place in a large bowl. Gradually add 3 tbsp of corn starch and toss to coat the wings. Deep fry the wings for approximately 15 minutes until cooked through.
Pour the marinade into a sauce pan and add a 1/2 cup of water. Boil the sauce for approximately 20 minutes, gradually adding more water if the marinade is too thick. Once the wings are cooked, toss them in the marinade or serve the marinade on the side.
