Sunday Recipe: Cinnamon Rolls
Recipe originally posted on Food Network
Preheat oven to 350F.
Dissolve 1/4 oz package of yeast (approximately 10 minutes) in 1/2 cup warm water. In a separate bowl microwave 1/2 cup milk for 2 minutes and mix in 1/2 cup sugar, 1/3 cup melted butter, 1 tsp salt and 1 egg. Add 2 cups of flour and mix until smooth. Add yeast mixture. Add another 1.5 cups flour. Knead dough on floured surface (10 minutes). Place in greased bowl, cover and let rise for 1.5 hours.
When doubled in size, roll out on a floured surface into a large rectangle (approximately 15 x 9 inches). Spread 1/2 cup melted butter all over dough. Mix 3/4 cup brown sugar and 2 tbsp cinnamon and sprinkle over buttered dough. Role up dough from the long side of the rectangle and cut into 12 or 15 slices.
Grease the bottom of baking pan with butter and sprinkle with brown sugar. Place slices close together in the pan and let rise until doubled, about 45 minutes. Bake for about 30 minutes or until nicely browned. Let cool slightly before placing a baking sheet tightly over the top of the baking pan and flipping the contents onto the cutting board.
