Sunday Recipe: Salted Caramel Crackers


This is one of my favourite recipes, and people lose their minds over it. My grandmother used to make it for us on holidays, and I can’t get through the holidays without some. It is flaky and melty and messy, but it is melt in your mouth delicious and totally addictive.

Preheat oven to 400F.

Line baking sheet with tinfoil and saltines or matzo.

Melt 1 cup butter and 1 cup brown sugar in s small pot and bring to a boil. Allow to boil for 3 minutes, stirring continuously.

Pour mixture onto crackers and bake for 5 – 10 minutes until bubbling.

Sprinkle 2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips on top immediately after removing from the oven, and let sit for 5 minutes until chocolate chips are soft.

Smooth melted chocolate evenly over the crackers, and top with Kosher salt or fleur de sel. Alternately, you can cover with candy cane pieces, unsweetened coconut, or pecan pieces. Refrigerate until solid, and break into pieces with a knife.
